Selected operating experience
Consumer products, retail & distribution
Ben has been directly involved in building and operating businesses spanning wholesale distribution, consumer products and retail. His work has included financial oversight, inventory and purchasing strategy, vendor relationships, management and expansion planning.
This experience has involved balancing growth with margins, inventory, working capital and the everyday demands of running a competitive business.
Building operating systems for growth
Ben has worked with his partners to develop companies from early operations into businesses with substantial revenue. His experience includes hiring and managing teams, controlling expenses, negotiating with vendors and evaluating new locations and opportunities.
He focuses on the financial and operational foundations behind expansion: allocating capital, establishing repeatable processes and keeping management connected to business performance.
How he approaches a partnership
Ben approaches an investment through the realities of operating the business. He looks at the team, the economics and the processes behind growth, then considers where capital and direct involvement can help build a stronger company.
Investment structure, operating responsibilities and ownership are determined for each opportunity after a conversation and diligence. Read more about 500 Management’s approach and scope.
